Ignore the date - Spring is here!

The date says "almost winter," but at the Oakton Noncredit Continuing Education office we know that Spring has sprung! Our Spring classes start in January, and registration has begun.

We continue to be proud of our recent new partnerships in Evanston, both at ETHS and in the larger Evanston community. One of our wonderful new partners is Boocoo Cultural Center, located adjacent to ETHS on Church street. BooCoo offers a large variety of classes and is host to a lively evening music scene - which is definitely worth your while to check out. Accordingly, our partnership with Boocoo for Spring 2008 consists of two exciting classes on recording studio techniques. Both are held at Boocoo's in-house recording studio.

INTRODUCTION TO STUDIO RECORDING TECHNIQUES FEE: $160
This class is held in a working music studio with the in-house sound engineer. You will be introduced to a broad range of recording concepts including how signal flow works and moves through the studio; microphone types and techniques; and Pro Tools and other computer-based recording software. Students will have hands-on experience throughout the class.
MUS B19-01, BOCO, 8 Tue., 1/22, 7-9 pm CRN 40501

INTERMEDIATE STUDIO RECORDING TECHNIQUES FEE: $160
Apply basic recording concepts learned in the introductory class to a full hands-on experience at Boocoo Recording Studio. Learn how all the concepts work together as you actually mix a recording session and develop your ears. Then, set up your first demo recording session with an in-house jazz ensemble. Finally, mix the resulting tracks for a complete sound engineering experience. Students who complete both sessions may apply for an unpaid, 10-week internship for more experience and resumé-building.
